If only....
thoughts and musings on being human in difficult times.
Reflections from my heart…
So many unspeakable, horrific things are happening in the world right now…and my own hometown has had its share of tragedies, accidents and diagnosis’ lately… the unfolding and sudden happenings of these things are almost too much to bear… so much to carry and impossible to wrap my mind and heart around. As I know so many are feeling… my heart is heavy with you all as I write these words… please know I’m sending love to each and every one of you. Love is the answer. You are not alone. Together, we are one.

If Only
If only we could learn to be still….. to sit inside the ache of a moment without rushing or bypassing to something or someone outside of ourselves.
If only we could feel another’s pain not as something to fix or explain away….but to feel it and sit with it and witness them…and know that it’s real and it’s going to take time.
If only…
we could look at a stranger and remember…. they too have wept at 3 a.m. That they too have reached for someone who wasn’t there.
If only…
we could unlearn the armor we were taught… and discover that the real courage is staying open when everything in us wants to say close.
If only…
we could forgive not because they deserved it… but because we do. Harboring anger and resentment solves nothing.
If only…
we began to notice… pausing before posting, speaking, assuming… knowing everyone is fighting a battle we know nothing about. and how easily it could be us in their shoes.
If only…
we began to notice… the beauty that surrounds us… the blessings that are abound…and leaned in to those, sharing and serving where we can.
If only…
stillness and pausing were something we were taught alongside reading, math and social studies.
If only…
we all learned how essential the breath is and how available the coping is to each of us… a single inhale and exhale.
If only…
we could learn to move our bodies to release. To create space where things no longer belong.
If only…
we realized that one moment can change everything and presence and stillness are the entire key.
If only…
we would stop walking past each other as if we are separate and link arms as we truly are - as one…
Present.
Awake.
HUMAN.
