when life falls apart...
I feel like someone needs to read this today... (recommended books and tools when navigating divorce.)
Divorce sucks.
Support is necessary.
Thankfully, I had a ton of support during my darkest moments of that season.. and I know many who are in the middle of the same season right now. I felt very led to share a few resources that helped me through that season of my life.
Codependent No More
Even if you don’t think you’re codependent, marriage does bring a certain amount of dependency because that’s your person. You’re supposed to be able to lean in and depend on each other. And when they’re not your person anymore, it unlocks something in you that you may not even realize. This one can help you recognize patterns and help you claim your own power again in a healthy, forgiving way. I would recommend reading it and keeping a journal as you go through it. It’s one I have come back to time and time again for other life seasons and reasons too.

Day by Day
I published this guided journal in 2019 - ironically, the same year my separation happened and didn’t realize how much I would use my own tools through those next few years. I still get author copies of my own book and use it often to get me back on track. I outline daily rituals and routines that will help you live a more creative life of flow and intention. I have gifted it numerous times since 2019 to people in the thick of a life transition.

When Things Fall Apart
This book was required reading for our YTT (yoga teacher training) and I’m forever grateful for my teacher. Again, ironically, I went through my separation and divorce while going through the nine month YTT. Grab a highlighter and a journal and dive deep. It’s one of those that I not only recommend but still grab off the shelf and flip to a page and it’s exactly the message I need to hear that day too, even all these years later. It’s not specifically for divorce, but any kind of hard season of life.

Growing Through Divorce
This one was recommended to me by someone who had been in my shoes before and it is like your own personal therapist you can take anywhere. A little dated, but still relevant. Another one to keep your journal close by and move through it.

A Daily Dose of Sanity
My mom gifted me this book years ago and it’s just an overall daily read no matter if you’re in a season of light or dark. Simple, digestible prompts, real life stories, lessons and daily guidance.
